About Us

We are Houston’s premiere hourly childcare center located in the Bay Area. Locally owned and operated since 1987, we have had the pleasure of providing hourly childcare during the day, evenings, and weekends to the following communities:

At Gimmie A Break, our goal is to provide a fun, safe, and healthy environment for your kids to come play, enjoy social interaction, and participate in a variety of stimulating activities, while giving you the break that you need.

The children have many fun and educational things to do while they’re in our care. We have board games, puzzles, Leggos, coloring, painting, arts and crafts, costume dress-ups, manipulatives, video games, movies, outdoor and indoor playgrounds, and much more! There is a separate room for ages seven and up that includes additional video games and movies along with air hockey and foosball tables.

We also provide weekly classes for your children to participate in, including dance, music, and the Tumble Bus. On school holidays, we offer other types of entertainment and enrichment activities, such as “Saltgrass Science” programs, which promote wildlife education through fun, hands-on learning.

During Spring and Summer breaks, our center offers additional engaging activities, such as pony rides, a petting zoo, and professional comedy and magic shows. During the Summer, the kids love our weekly “Wet-n-Wild Wednesday” using sprinklers and a water slide.

Gimmie A Break is a state licensed facility, which requires us to follow the state's childcare guidelines. Our staff members must complete 8 hours of pre-service training in addition to attaining their CPR and first aid certifications. They also undergo 15 hours of annual child care-related continuing education. All staff members possess at least a high school diploma and undergo a criminal history check prior to employment.
